The PI Management School trains decision-makers in member-based organisations, such as cooperatives and mutual societies. We train, among others, board members and supervisory board members. Often, new board members do not have long experience in board positions, and it is our job to prepare them for their new role in a comprehensive way.
In these times, we need new and better performance
Governments are constantly faced with more demands and the need for new and better performance. New areas are becoming digitalised and competition is intensifying as foreign competitors enter old markets. There is also variation in requirements: for example, the issues facing the board of an insurance company are very different from those of a manufacturing cooperative or its large subsidiary.
SmoothTeam is dynamic, increases motivation and enthusiasm
I am looking for a tool for developing governments that allows for interaction and that, in addition to development, inspires and motivates. SmoothTeam's tool is dynamic and helps participants learn new things.
Simulation enables collaborative learning
Often, board members together have a lot of the skills that the board needs. But this is not enough: people also need to learn from each other. If people don't know each other well, they are afraid to ask stupid questions or disagree. As a result, learning does not take place, which eats into performance. You need to be able to build trust so that you can openly discuss strategy or finance, for example. It is essential that these are worked on in the boardroom and learned from together.
The simulation raised reflection and positive irritation
In my experience, the simulation raises issues of interest to the government and supports the debate on what the government needs as it aims to move forward and do better. In some situations, the simulation has provided appropriate stimuli and has led to the necessary discussion. The simulation also brings out the sometimes surprising strengths of different people.
I recommend the simulation to all governments
The simulation is useful for governments of all sizes. Small governments are rarely assembled and often have an amateurish grip, so there is a great need for interaction. Conversely, larger governments can deepen their cooperation even further. In my experience, board members are excited by the discussion generated by the simulation!
