Multi-location Work

The simulation gives the team a good basis for creating rules of the game for multi-site work.

Multi-location Work

What is the need? The simulation is suitable for a team that is thinking about the practices of multi-location work and how they affect e.g. community, information flow, etc. The discussion together will make you think about work from perspectives that we easily forget in our busy everyday life. The simulation provides a good basis for the team to create a set of rules for multi-site working.

Why does it work? There are factors in remote, local and multi-location work that threaten or support well-being and performance. The advantages and disadvantages of teleworking depend on the type of organisation, business, work and tasks involved. This simulation will allow you to discuss the everyday life of your team from a multi-location perspective. The issues raised in the simulation are based on the latest research on multisite working.

What about in practice? The exercise consists of eight multi-site work situations that help the team to articulate ways and practices of working together. It will also reflect on the impact of multi-location work, including on the sense of belonging.

Research background

The issues raised in the exercise are based on research (e.g. Occupational Health Institute and international peer-reviewed articles).

Objectives

  • Increase understanding of the issues to consider when choosing where to work
  • Create a common understanding of the benefits and challenges of remote and present work
  • Compare your own and your team's needs in organising multi-location work
  • Developing the team's work in a multi-site environment

For whom

  • For teams of 4-16 people, also suitable for temporary and project teams.
  • Multi-selection does not involve judging the strengths of colleagues, which makes it possible to play with people who know each other less well.
