Kalmar offers cargo handling solutions and services for ports, terminals, distribution centers and heavy industry. We use SmoothTeam in our software development unit of about 160 employees. We act as game directors ourselves.

Simulations lead to new kinds of discussions

SmoothTeam was different from the concepts we've seen before and that's what got us interested. We like the way the service visualizes team strengths and dynamics. Each simulation is different because of the participants in the teams. Simulations have led to new topics of discussion that didn't really exist before. It is important to our teams that participating in simulations is a fun experience.

Use is possible with a low threshold

The SmoothTeam tool is really easy to use, and no prior facilitation experience is required. Almost all of our simulations are implemented with a hybrid model, i.e. with both remote and local participants. We have also had simulations where the tool coped very well with special situations. For example, one person's network connection was unstable, but the tool was not startled by this.

Most participants liked the concept

The simulations have led to new discussions. Most participants have liked the concept, and we expect the benefits of the service to be seen outside of simulations in the form of better teamwork.
