Gofore is a digitalisation specialist. I worked there as a technical project manager on several projects.
When I started at Gofore in 2012, the company was quite small, with less than thirty employees. Now we are almost 600. In addition to Finland, we have offices in Germany, Estonia and Spain. At the same time, we have developed our project practices so that we can work from more locations on the same project.
International team
Our X-Road team includes people from several countries. Although the cultures are a bit different, we have a very like-minded bunch of developers. Cultural differences have not been a problem.
We will work on the development in two-week cycles, with a retrospective meeting at the end of each cycle. The aim is to improve what we do even further.
SmoothTeam improved communication
Teamwork in software projects has many aspects: the technological perspective, the processes, and the people and communication side. SmoothTeam helps to improve the latter, and we used the "Team Strengths" simulation as a retrospective. The session was attended by Finnish, Estonian and Spanish GoForelers, as well as our customers from Finland and Estonia.
SmoothTeam gave us a whole new way of looking at what the team does. It is also important that the session was fun and the participants felt good. We didn't just get analysis, we got wellbeing.
In addition to the simulation, the report I received afterwards was interesting. It gave me interesting information on how the team members perceive me in different situations. In addition, we learned about other people's personal background information that would not otherwise come up in a working meeting.
I highly recommend SmoothTeam to a wide range of teams, regardless of industry. SmoothTeam helps to improve teamwork and helps team members to better understand each other.
