Pinja Lähteenmäki, Kempower: SmoothTeam builds trust and communication in the face of constant change

2025-10-20

Kempower designs, manufactures and sells fast charging equipment and solutions for electric vehicles. The company has grown rapidly in recent years and this growth has been reflected in the constant change of teams. Co-workers change, roles evolve and team structures are updated, and there is always no time to start working together before the situation changes again.

Already since 2022, SmoothTeam has been a practical and easy tool for us to strengthen team collaboration based on the needs identified by frontline staff.

The sceptic guarantee works

SmoothTeam's Skeptic Guarantee is great and holds true! At the beginning of a simulation, there may be some silent doubt about the usefulness of the event. This is revealed at the end, when participants openly say that they were really sceptical about the simulation, but it turned out to be an excellent way to get to know the team members better.

In remote teams, the situation can be particularly challenging when team members don't know each other well and there are fewer everyday opportunities to get to know colleagues. Simulations such as Team Strengths and Team Mate Handbook have been found to be good ways of stimulating and stimulating discussion about team spirit. The simulations have also led to concrete follow-up actions, such as informal coffee breaks or other joint activities between the whole team.

Easy to deploy - works at the pace of a fast-paced business

SmoothTeam was introduced at Kempower back in 2022, so the collaboration started quickly and with a low threshold.

We have the courage to try new things, and SmoothTeam's approach was a perfect fit. We were able to move forward without much planning and with the flexibility to adapt to the situation.

The service is appropriately sized, affordable and easily accessible. When a simulation is due, we select the topic of the simulation to be carried out with a chaperone according to the team's needs and agree on a schedule. There are many types of simulations and they can be used at many points, such as when a new team member is starting, coaching a management team or even considering the impact of AI on the team's work.

For the facilitator, the concept is very light and agile: you can run the simulation with a small amount of training, and you don't have to prepare all the facilitation from the beginning.

Generate genuine and deep conversations

Open communication and getting to know your colleagues a little better than the surface is, in my opinion, a sustainable basis for successful teamwork and working together. In everyday work, there is often no opportunity to really discuss who we are, how we work and what works or doesn't work. Simulation helps team members to get to know each other as people.

At some points there have been some very surprising conversations - the very conversations that build trust. The depth and honesty of the conversations sometimes surprises even the facilitator. For example, in one team, after a somewhat rocky start, the participants eventually shared things, even about their difficult life situations, concluding that the experience had been really good. Another strength of simulations is that everyone can control what they share about themselves and their thoughts. You don't have to share everything if you don't feel like it.

Smoothteam is ideal for strengthening collaboration between all kinds of teams.

It is an easy, safe and flexible way to start meaningful conversations.

Team development with a skeptic's guarantee!

All simulations are stand-alone packages for the different needs of the teams. Most of the simulations are based on research, see the simulations page for more information.
